Germany Rediscovered

1 x 52'

With the fall of Nazi Germany the Allies divided the country into four zones of influence, and power was shared out between America, Britain, France and Russia. However within three years East-West relations began to deteriorate and Stalin imposed a blockade on the city of Berlin, which lay isolated within the Soviet zone.

The Berlin air-lift followed, the Allies being forced to carry out this mission in order to maintain links between West Berlin and the rest of the World. In 1961 the infamous Berlin Wall was built and the Cold War continued until the 1980's when, after public pressure, the Wall was demolished on 9th November 1989. This film retraces the history of a nation torn apart by events which has now successfully achieved reunification, recapturing the excitement of one of the most momentous news stories in the history of the Twentieth Century.
